Over the past couple months the Membership Committee has been considering our membership structure. In 2025 our membership sales earned $8,315 of our total income of $145,035. Unfortunately, our total expenses were $147,446. We are eager to balance our budget and we are constantly exploring ways of doing that with new revenue sources and lowering costs.
In 2025 we launched a new fundraising event, we secured grants, and increased sales through our classes, art shows and gift shop. These activities increased our income but we still fell short of meeting our budget.
When organizations consider prices and costs they often look around, do some price shopping and assess the value of the what is being offered to the public. Some imbalances became apparent and we realized that some changes were due in our membership structure. We realized that $30 memberships were being used for discounts worth more than $100. We also saw that our membership prices were lower than comparable organizations.
We will be implementing a revised structure for memberships that will take effect May 1, 2026. The new structure will include discounts for gift shop items and other added benefits depending on the type of membership. The new prices will be higher and more like comparable organizations.
The prices also reflect the value of membership benefits and costs of operating the RRAC programs. Current members will be moved into the appropriate category until their membership is due for renewal.
The new types of membership are: Individual $50, Household $125, Gold $500, and Platinum $1000. New basic benefits include 10% discount on gift shop items and most classes, and for Household members benefits for up to six people.
I greatly appreciate the work and support of members and supporters and work to ensure the longevity of the RRAC. If you have any questions or comments, please let me know, mfiedorowicz@rotirotiartcenter.org.
